And exhale…
Here we are…one of my favorite times EVER. The start of a new month. Doesn’t that sound so full of hope? So full of promise? The only time that the start of a month is even better than today is when it falls on a Monday. The start of a new month AND week??? My neurotic need for an eternal fresh start JUMPS FOR JOY!
But I digress. Back to today. The start of a new month always makes me want to bring order to my life. To start new projects. To improve on my flaws.
I know. I have flaws. I was shocked, too. I’ll give you a minute to recover.
Ready?
How about now? OK, good. Moving on. Let’s make a list. I LOVE LISTS! I’m thinking about having a weekly list on the blog, so if you have any suggestions for fun lists, please comment.
So today’s list is a NEW MONTH list! A list of amazing things that will make the best life even bester.
1. Food – This one manages to make it onto every list ever. But this time I MEAN it. Now, we’re going cottaging for a week (YAYAYAYAYAY!) on Friday so I’m not asking for miracles. This is not the month that will see AMAZING strides in nutritional fabulosity. But let’s commit to eating proper meals with only healthy snacks in between. Veggies yes, Sour Patch Kids no.
2. Exercise – This is HAUNTING me right now. Because I feel like this:
I do nothing. Seriously nothing. The closest I get to exercise is the 2km round trip I take to pick up Zofia from daycare every day (that’s about 1.3 miles for my American friends.) So pathetic. We even have a beautiful elliptical machine sitting in our basement! But pregnancy is honestly starting to kick my butt and I’m short of breath all the time and excuse excuse excuse blah blah blah blah. I know. So let’s have a little goal for the month. Fifteen extra minutes a day. Just 15 quick minutes on the elliptical, every day for a month. Except next week. When I’ll be at the cottage and guaranteed to be doing stuff every day anyway. And then eventually I’ll do an ultra marathon, right?
3. Brain – With a Toddler Tornado and an amazing Husbandio around, it has become very easy to neglect my reading. I used to DEVOUR books. Lately, not so much. But right now I have two books at home that I would like to read, so let’s make that a goal. Two books in August. Surely I can make time for that, yes? YES!
4. Organization – I feel like I have too much clutter in my life right now. Visual clutter makes me a little squirrely, so let’s get rid of it. This month I will organize my closet AND Zofia’s closet.
5. Blogging – This is new to me. Very new. So I think I’ll take my week at the cottage to really think about what I want out of this and how I want this blog to look. What would you guys like to see? Does anyone have any wonderful suggestions?
6. My tribe – I LOVE MY TRIBE! And I will spend the month making sure they know it.
Love all this and for reals this could mirror my list. I’m joining the gym today and doing my first work out and I’ve been so glued to the couch that all preggers reading has gone out the window. Thanks for the inspiration. And can I say I’m jealous you’re going away because I too am squirrelly beyond repair not going away anytime soon. Im so tired of illinois right now I could scream. That is all. Love.
I envy your gym joinage. Finances and scheduling here renders that impossible, but if I can’t do FIFTEEN LOUSY MINUTES on the elliptical every day, then I just plain suck.
This will be our first “vacation” since our honeymoon. I’m basically about four days from death right now, so this is coming right in the nick of time.
Hey! Guess what!?!?!?!
I love you.
HEY GUESS WHAT? I love you, too!
So with Betsy moving in and everything we own combining into one closet, I am having the same organizational anxiety as well. I know I need to buy some things to sort and separate but I don’t know what I want yet. Let me know if you find any awesome space savers or anything on your organization spree, mmkay!?
Definitely! I’m currently using the guest bedroom as my closet/dressing room, but it’s about to get turned into the nursery which means my clothes will have to share space with Husbandio. I HAVE ANXIETY OVER THIS.
Okay, just discovered your blog from your comment on one of my posts (that whole “grocery shopping sucks” thing :D) and I LOVE it! Lists and snarkiness? Two of my favorite things!! I already sort of have an August goal list going on my blog too, but now you’ve inspired me to create more. 🙂 Have a great vacation (jealous!) and keep sharing!
This kind of turned out to be a bit of a boring list, but JUST WAIT! It will get better. I promise!
I think it’s a totally realistic one, though! I think a lot of people can identify with those goals. I’ll stay tuned for more 🙂
Love this! Excited to see what happens with the Brain List and to hear what you’re reading! I’ve been finding that putting my Reading Challenge online has motivated me to stick with it, so hopefully the same will happen for you!
I enjoy making lists too, makes me feel more ‘put together’ mentally and gives me hope! : )
I would imagine that a mom of twins would HAVE to have lists!
Yes they have become an essential thing to be done since my boys have arrived that’s for sure! : )
I, too, need to increase the moviness of my body on a daily basis. We will aim for this together!
Perfect! Whenever I think I’m too tired or lazy, I’ll say BUT WHAT WOULD PEACHES DO???
Peaches would make a slice of toast and sit back down. You need a new role model. lol
Right now I would happily trade my elliptical machine for some toast. Mmmmmmmmm toast…
hahahaha. I’m so sorry. I”ll keep my fingers/mouth shut now 😛
Lists scare me! 😉
MLITBL,
Look at you being all chippy and hopeful! In some countries, you get arrested for being this excited… Wait, you live in that country!
Le Clown
I am so jealous of your elliptical machine!
I assure you, YOU’VE used my elliptical machine almost as many times as I have. We got it about two weeks before I found out I was pregnant, and I’ve been a lazy bag of bones ever since!
Ya, all LAZY MAKING A BABY. Hello…
I bet you’ll be happy to have it later, when baby is napping or something!!
IMO, an intelligent, but presently unknown man, said that it’s a good idea, in terms of goals and what not, never to use the word “should,” as it implies resistance and guilt, and to focus more on the items you have already accomplished. That is, report about what you have done, instead of what you’re going to do. Set internal goals, go out and reach them, and then proclaim, “I did ____!!!” From personal experience, it seems like when I set goals, and tell people about them before I set out to reach them, I have more difficulty reaching them, and sometimes they do not get reached. If you only let yourself in on what you’re going to do, only you are counting on you accomplishing it.
Life is gray, so do with this what you will 🙂
I saw this comment in my email while I was on vacation and I thought about it quite a bit. The more I thought about it, and how it applied to past experiences, the more I agreed with it.
So now I want to change my post to “I DID eat some peanut butter Rolo ice cream and I DID enjoy it!!!” And all the rest of the stuff is secret…
While this applies, too, beyond the realm your blog, it seems opportune, here, to say I wish I was listened to, relfected upon, and taken as seriously, in person, as I am, or at least appear to be, on paper. It’s bittersweet…to be, to some extent, more appealing on paper. (haha ) In any event, I greatly appreciate you taking me seriously and actually considering what I have to say, for I put a lot of thought into my responses to all of the blog posts I comment on, too much in some instances. It’s not just that you agree with me, though that feels even better, but that you received the more covert message behind what I said, which you came to when you took what I posed and thought about it for more than two seconds.
Thanks!
